All of Jimmy’s Golf tips are each way bets. An each way bet is effectively half your stake on the outright win and have your stake on the place market. Bookmakers offer a varying number of places depending on the tournament and the offers they have at the time. Whilst the exchanges do offer each way markets, generally the liquidity is poor. The six month Jimmy’s Golf (Tipstrr) exchange trial is complete so how did it fair?

We had confidence that the service consistently beats the bookmakers due to Tipstrr’s independent verification but can it also take on the exchanges? Our main concern with this service was potential differences in the places we would get. Bookmakers will vary the number places they offer & the selections chosen may be based on this, opting for the bookie with the most. So for example, the chosen bookie offering 8 places for the same price as Betfair offering 5. As Betfair offers Top 5, Top 10 & Top 20 place markets we have collected data during the trial for each to provide a comparison.

Before we look at the results I can confirm that the receipt of the tips was flawless. Tips were provided weekly with no gaps and always received at least 24 hours before tee-off time giving plenty of time to get them placed. As always with Tipstrr services, tips became instantly available both on our Tipstrr News Feed & by email. There are no communications with the service to discuss as with Tipstrr you cannot contact the tip supplier directly. We averaged 29 tips per month from this service for the trial period.

So lets assess the results…

The service recommends all bets are each way selections which place 1 point on the outright win & 1 point on the place. The table below shows a summary of three different angles backing Win + Top 5, Win + Top 10 & Win + Top 20 on Betfair. It also shows how each of the market types did individually.

If we are to use the service on the exchanges in the exact same way as the creator intended then from our results the best approach is to place the each way bet on Win + Top 5. The graph below shows a visual of the three different approaches.

What immediately jumps out at you is that ALL of the place markets lost money! Whilst we have tried to follow the service as it is intended to be used we would have made more profit and a higher overall ROI had we used the Outright Win market only & left out the place markets completely. However, we have to bear in mind that 177 bets is a very small sample size and there may be an upturn in the place markets in the months that follow. Also, as discussed, we do not know if during the trial period the bookmaker bets did profit due to having higher place numbers, It may be that the Place markets don’t work on the exchanges but the Outright Win markets certainly do!

When backing Outright Wins in Golf you are backing huge prices so you need expect lengthy losing runs. Including the Place markets reduces the number of weeks without a winning bet which is good for the mindset so if you intend to follow this service I suggest you gather more data on the Place markets. The graph below provides a visual comparison of the different market types.

Here is a breakdown of our findings for each month.

• Month 1 – May = Loss: We were down overall using Win & Place when the service was positive against the bookmakers. We secured a 43/1 Outright winner and our Outright Win market prices beat the bookmaker Outright Win Market prices.
• Month 2 – June = Profit: A solid month in June put us firmly into profit overall. The month saw a single outright winner priced at 70/1 & a steady increase in the number of placed bets.
• Month 3 – July = Profit: One week with slightly later selections due to Olympic scheduling. Noted at the halfway point of the trial that all profit coming from the Outright Win markets.
• Month 4 – August = Profit: Significant improvement in Top 5 place markets. Xander Schauffele advised as a Outright Win only bet which is against the norm. Tour Championship had no Top 20 places market available.
• Month 5 – September = Profit: Vastly reduced volume of selections. Place markets continue to lose money & the Outright Winner market is carrying the system.

Regardless of whether we had taken the place markets or not Jimmy’s golf beat the exchanges. Win + Top 5 secured 54.3 points profit over the 6 month trial period & increased a £1000 bank to £1540.30. It is a super easy system to follow, tips provided timely & consistently with a steady volume. I must stress again that our sample size is very small here. This is a high odds system so lengthy losing sequences should be expected, offset by the occasional big winner. Our experience of Jimmy’s golf has been excellent & we can recommend it for use on the exchanges. We will be continuing to use the service & will post an update on the place markets when we have more data.
